When I die...

My favorite joke:

"He died doing what he loved"

"What, dying?"

It's weird to think about what do have done with your remains once you're dead. My only request is that all my organs get harvested and help someone in need, it may be the only point in time when I'm truly able to help someone. Unfortunately, I'll be dead by then. (fingers crossed. weirder things have happened)

I'm gonna vote "no" on embalming. If most people knew about the horrific procedure of embalming, there would be a lot fewer people doing it.

Go ahead. Google it. YOU'RE WELCOME.

Cremation seems reasonable. However, is a crematory belching smoke into the environment really the best thing to do?

Side story: One time when I worked in a TV newsroom, we heard a call on the police scanner regarding a large amount of smoke coming from a structure, and fire trucks were responding. Turns out it was just a "burn day" at the crematorium. So there's that.

If you're worried about your body keeping fresh for the service, what's wrong with good ol' refrigeration? Works pretty well for my leftovers, and isn't that what we all are after we die? Leftovers?

Maybe we're missing a prime business opportunity here: Large, body-sized Tupperware containers. Just burp the corner on the lid, and you're fresh for eternity. Too late to patent?

Can I get it in a 42 Long?

I think the best option is to dig a nice, deep hole and drop the body in and let nature do it's thing. Maybe plant a tree right on top. Then the tree becomes the memorial. Instead of start cemeteries, we get a nice patch of forest.

Who is with me on this one?
